September 11-May 16

With an emphasis on outdoor, imaginative play and exploration, students begin to show independence in the Redbud Class. Students feel safe in their beautiful forest classroom and slowly adventure farther along the trail as the year progresses. Every class follows a predictable routine. We begin each day with free play in our beautiful outdoor classroom, then gather together for opening circle with song, stories, and snack. We like to play nature-connection games, expanding our senses and awareness of nature all around us. Then we go on our themed adventure or investigation, exploring along our nature loop. As students hike uneven terrain, climb, and balance on stones, they develop gross motor skills. Lunch includes more free play in our classroom that includes a mud kitchen, giant weaving loom, slackline, obstacle course, and ever-changing loose parts. Students come back together for nature journaling time. We close each class with story and song around the fire circle.

Redbuds Annual Tuition: $1590 per student
+$150 enrollment deposit

We don’t want tuition to feel out of reach for any family. Students have the option to utilize Home School Partnerships to fund DWS Courses. Discovery Wilderness School is partnered with Jenison, Niles, and Hamilton Home School Partnerships. In addition, DWS offers income-based tuition reduction, payment plans, early payment discounts, and volunteer opportunities for parents to make tuition more affordable. Our goal is to never turn away a family due to tuition cost. Make sure to reach out to create a customized plan that will work with your family's budget before registering.
