2022-2023 School Year
Mondays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays, 10:00-2:00
(one day per week, you choose which day works best for you).
September 7-May 25
Students will learn to observe the natural world with all of their senses, developing a deep connection to the earth and their peers in our outdoor classroom. We will begin each morning working together to build a fire, and then gather together for opening circle around the fire. We like to play nature-connection games, expanding our senses and awareness of nature all around us. Then we go on our adventure along the trails, into the swamp, or along the lake. Afterwards, we hike back to the fire circle for lunch and free exploration. Students will come back together for a time of sharing and handicraft project, learning traditional skills to create useful objects from natural materials (rope from plants, introductory wood carving, bark baskets, clay pots etc.). We close each class around the fire circle. Sharing discoveries and learning from one another develops our sense of community. Come adventure with us!
Adventures Annual Tuition: $1490 per student
We don’t want tuition to feel out of reach for any family. Students have the option to utilize Home School Partnerships to fund DWS Courses. Discovery Wilderness School is partnered with Jenison, Niles, and Hamilton Home School Partnerships. In addition, DWS offers income-based tuition reduction, payment plans, early payment discounts, and volunteer opportunities for parents to make tuition more affordable. Our goal is to never turn away a family due to tuition cost. Make sure to reach out to create a customized plan that will work with your family's budget before registering.
